Morning, could you help me out with this finishing question?I am restoring a bunch of these parts. The specific part was nickelled steel (no copper underneath), which over time had rusted (as they all do eventually). Here it was only buffed for a bit of shine and that was all. What I mean to do is proper restoration - stripping of old nickel (sometimes zinc and always rust), then a new fresh coat would be applied. For cosmetic purposes I am considering black nickel, but lack experience. What is the process, what chemicals are used? What is the finish like (I've read it scratches easily, it that true? The lever arm will come into contact with sweaty fingers quite often.)?Are there any other methods of colouring nickel you can advise (dark as well as red, blue, green/yellow)? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2FNDmVb
