Hey guys. I just moved into my house about 3 weeks ago and I’m having major plumbing issues, even after having the home inspected and finding nothing that was disclosed prior to our purchase. Moving along to last night, my in-laws came over for a week. And in the process, their 4yr old flushed a wet wipe down our toilet. Causing the entire sewer line to clog and flood our tub. So we called out a plumber to check things out. He informed me that while he was snaking the drain line he removed tree roots. Afterwards they have to call out a second guy with a camera to inspect the amount of blockage and damage from the tree roots. We find out that not only was the drain 90% blocked, but there was multiple spots all about 5 feet apart that also had tree roots growing through the clay pipe. So I start stressing out about the cost. The final quote for the full repair was $9550. At which point I’m floored. And panicking trying to figure out why to do. I just spent all my savings on the down payment on he house and my credit is pretty much pushed to the limit that I’m willing to go. With 2 car payments and a house and 2 credit cards. I’m also in a situation with having lost my wife’s income cause of a newborn, so I’m barely able to make ends meet as it is. I’m looking for any kind of advice on what I can do. I’m calling the home insurance tomorrow to see if they will cover it. (Don’t think sewer lines are covered from tree roots). Calling up the home inspector and family members for ideas. Any advice would be helpful.
