I need some help as to how to repair my credit. When I was in college I had some credit card debt that I stupidly didn’t pay off and went to a collection agency (portfolio recovery). I then made the mistake of paying them back without talking to them about having it removed from my records (read that it’s sometimes possible). It shows up as a “closed” account whenever I look at my credit reports. On credit karma my credit score is 760 and 755 on transunion and equifax respectively. Is there anything I can do at this point? I tried applying for a credit card and was denied.
