We moved into out first house last week and some plasterboard (we're in the UK so not sure ) got damaged in a few places during the removal some nasty, decades-old, textured wallpaper.Album: http://ift.tt/2pAIZ2r of the wall is in surprisingly good condition but we’ve ended up with a few areas of chipped and patchy paint that came off with the wallpaper glue (particularly around the tops of the wall), a few gouges through the surface layer from scraping, and a few of the joins between boards are exposed.I’m Looking for advice on how best to repair these things before moving on to painting. Can I fill the gouges and joins with some filler and sand them smooth before painting? What about the chipped paint? Not really sure what to about the paint. We’d prefer to avoid the expense of a professional skim if we can help it.Generally, what’s the proper process for painting after removing wallpaper? I’m tempted to:Remove paper.Clean all left over glue.Repair wall.apply white oil-based basecoat to ‘seal’ the glue which can be activated by water in water-based paint.Touch up patchiness and smooth downAdd a few top costs, smooth as necessary. Is this right? Is there anything missing or not advised??First time trying to paint after removing wallpaper, and it would suck to end up with crappily painted walls because I missed something obvious. Thanks for the help! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2u94exP
