I picked up some A36 steel and soaked it in vinegar for two days, rinsed it, steel brushed it, soaped it and sponged it, dried it and then when I went to put on the first layer of oil there was a metallic grey substance coming off onto the paper towel. I put them back into a fresh vinegar bath to see if I could get more off.Did I just not clean them enough? Is there a quick way to remove that filmy layer than waiting on the vinegar bath?
