(I am not 100% sure that this is the right place to ask, I hope it is all right)
I need a paper from the church on a family matter, and I do not want to go around this. I am not religious but this is important for somebody else.
They will ask me to pay a one-year-church-tax.
From what I understand, there is chance they will ask for a salary proof, to request a certain percentage of my salary for the church tax. (This way they are trying to get more money than people want to pay)
I am pretty sure I am going to talk to a priest directly. This is going to be the first time I am doing something like this in this city, because I relocated, yearly sums were payed by my parents before.
What is a respectful way to tell them that I am not going to give them a salary proof? I am pretty sure they do not have the right to ask, but this sounds too harsh. There is no "law" for this, either. Obviously.
Thanks
