Please forgive my ignorance but I could not find a solid answer and I am a home diy novice. I have lathe and plaster walls in my dining room that I want to have recessed wainscoting on and I was unsure if it's possible and if my math is to far fetched or if i am somewhat on the right path. I have 5/8 inch floor moulding that I would like to keep. Could I attach 1/8 inch mdf board that is 8 feet long and 40 inches high directly to the plaster as a base, and then use 1/2 inch planks to make the recesses. My thought process was that 1/8 inch mdf backing with 1/2 inch planks would make a nice flush connection with the floor moulding, but my worry is 1/8 inch isn't thick enough. I hope in conveyed where I'm at right. Any help would be appreciated. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2FlcxL8
