Hello Everyone,

Me and my wife are having a baby! Yay! She is a great nurturing type and she firmly believes in staying at home with the baby for the first couple of years. Currently she works as a Nanny. She watches a 6 month old, a 1 year old, and a 6 year old who goes to school. She get's paid each week for $450. The family has asked her if she was interested in taking the baby with her and continue watching the kids after we have it. She is on the fence here, feeling it will be to much and she will show to much favoritism to our child.

I think this is a golden chance, not many families offer this flexibility and clearly they love her. She may have some bargaining power. I will be making $43,000 on a salary and I just think it will be hard supporting her, the baby, and myself. I told her she should try to find some sort of work from home if she won't continue working for the family. But we are unsure of her options there too.

We live in Indiana, cost of living is low here.

What are her options? Should she stay as a nanny? Or find some sort of work from home? If so, what type of work?

TL;DR Wife having a baby, works as nanny at $450 a week watching 3 kids. They offer her to take baby to work and continue watching their kids. She is considering staying home, maybe finding work from there. I will make $43,000 on salary in Indiana. Not sure what her best options are as my salary may not provide for me, her, and new baby.
