I've bought 1000-foot boxes of cable for around $60. You can get a cable stripper/crimper tool with 100 connectors for $14. Compare this to $20 for a 15-foot cable at Walmart.

If you need more than 50 feet of Ethernet cable, it's probably cheaper to buy a 1000' roll (plus crimping tool for the connectors) on Amazon.
