I won't be revealing my identity but I am a celebrity based out of the United States. Last year I worked on a project that paid me $10.2 million which became subject to underreported income. My accountant at the time handled my finances (obviously). My gross income for 2017 was approximately $18 million.

My (former/recently fired) accountant in 2017 reported my income at only $12 million, supposedly by mistake. Well of course the IRS learned quickly that my income from 2017 was vastly underreported. Due to the nature of who I am, my agent told me that the news of my circumstance will be made public in the national media within the next week.

I was robbed millions by my accountant and also by my former manager (they conspired together). Although there is an ongoing criminal investigation in regards to that situation, the IRS is claiming I owe them millions of dollars now and is seemingly unwilling to wait until the verdict of the criminal investigation with my former accountant and manager (which will likely take months). My current attorney is unsure as to whether or not we will be able to get the IRS to wait until the investigation is complete and convictions are completed.

I am not seeking legal advice. I'm wondering if any of you have ever dealt with a situation in which the IRS demands payment prior to the end of an investigation. I understand that my predicament is unusual but I figured it couldn't hurt to see if any of you can provide some sort of insight to this because my attorney seems uncertain with what will be happening within the next week or so, especially as this news will be a national story shortly.

Essentially I understand this post is not necessary. I'm simply hoping someone here can provide me with some semblance of peace of mind as I am in a constant state of extreme anxiety at this time.
Any advice is appreciated even though I didn't submit a clear question. Thank you!
