Hello !
I received yesterday an email that leads me to believe I have been accepted into Grad School ! I called the Admissions Office to confirm, however, they could not tell me over the phone. The lady continually said that a decision was made and I should receive something in the mail. I am progressing forward with the anticipation of being officially accepted.
With that being said, I need some help!
The institution is charging $1,073 per credit. Essentially all the courses are 3 credits or $3,219 per course. I want to take at least 2-3 classes a semester (hopefully) for a total of $6,438-9,657.
My current steady expenses are (per month):
877 - Daycare 420 - Car 40 - Gas 80 - Tolls to/from work 350 - rent 500 - CC (not min payment) 150 - finance payment (finished in Aug) 142 - Student Loans 200 - Emergency Fund Deposit 100 - Roth IRA 75 - Life Insurance
In addition, I also have an allotted "Play Money" account. I deposit 500 a month in there for everday expenses including grooming, groceries etc.
Standard pay rate is 56k per year.
My current plan is to apply for FAFSA, decrease the "Play Money" to 200 per month instead of 500 and work a 2nd job doing anything. I also have a certification test coming up that will give me a raise if I pass it. I will also go down to 300 from 500 for the CC payments. I'd be saving 500 a month towards schooling at minimum. I'll also apply for scholarships/ fellowships and Grants.
Does this sound like a good plan ? What are somethings that you all would do ?
Random: I should write out my expenses more often. I have noticed some better allocations I can make for my expenses.
