It finally made sense for us to have a Costco membership, so we did get one: the "Gold Star" $60 membership, versus the "special" $120 membership that gets you two percent back, a refund if that doesn't save you $60, yadda yadda. They pushed it hard.
I went with the $60, because the $120 membership seemed to gimmicky and I'm just here to buy certain food items at a good price. Was the $120 really better, or was there a trick there (encourages you to spend more at Costco, etc.)?
