I'm a very frugal person in a lot of areas, including clothes, going out, electronics, etc. etc.

I usually make the most out of the items I get and make them last a very long time, and the overall price paid for such a lasting product/item usually pays off very well, and helps me save money on the long run.

One area I am suffering in tremendously though, is the grocery bill. I've tried to tweak it over the past few months, but haven't succeeded in drastically lowering it without putting myself on a strict diet of rice and vegetables/stew pretty much every day.

I live in Ontario and my bill is $500-$600 CAD per month. Sometimes it's a bit less than 500. It used to be $350-$400 per month, but I was going at 1500 calories per day and eating a lot of sugar back then.

The good news is that I have eliminated sugary junk foods entirely from my diet, with the exception dark chocolate (85%) and a bag of chips every two weeks.

I did keep, and in some cases increased, the milk, cheese, and meats in my diet, but still incorporate a lot of processed foods because I am not a good cook.

With that being said, if I cut the prepped meals and processed foods out of my bill entirely, i'd have huge gaps where I wouldn't know what to do to feed myself.

Can someone help me out with a rough sketch of what a basic frugal grocery bill would look like? Any advice on how I can feed myself if I scratch out all the cans and prepped foods out of my diet?
