I was recently contacted by a company who wants me to come work for them. They were ballsy enough to contact me at my current place of employment. I admit that I am flattered, but I am very torn between this new job offer, & my current job.

There are very few differences between my current job & the new offer. The biggest being my current position is with a very large company, & the offer is coming from a small, family owned business. The new position is in the same industry, just a different side of the industry (automotive). I'm having a hard time wanting to make the jump for 50 cents/hour more than I am making now.

Question: Would I be too pushy if I said I would only take their offer for $1.50/hour more than I am making now? I have to decide by tomorrow, & he has contacted me today wondering if I have decided yet. He said he is willing to answer any more questions I may have.

I really do love my current job, & it tears me up thinking about quitting. So I need a better offer to make the jump. Plus the new position would be more demanding than my current one. They offered me the job over a guy who has 3 years of experience in this specific position. It is clear that they want me. Do I have the upper hand here? Could I ask for even more? Thank you for your help!
