Hi, I am looking for a good BIFL chair. I work from home so I sit in the chair for at least 10 hours a day. I get severe pain in my butt (literally) and lower back. Lower back pain has been killing me for the past 4 months so I'm hoping for a chair that has good back support.
I went into my local store with buying the Mirra 2 chair in mind because my school had those in the classrooms and I found them comfortable. But the salesperson kept recommending the Aeron Remastered whose design was refreshed from the classic Aeron in 2016. I tried them in the store and I found both comfortable, but I just don't know which one is more comfortable after LONG hours.
The salesperson was telling me that the Mirra 2's plastic back could be a little harsh, but I can't wrap my head around this idea - my understanding is that the more rigid it is, the better support it has? Wouldn't that be good for someone like me who get back pains? He also recommends the Aeron Remastered over the Mirra 2 because it's has newer designs and has more adjustable options than the Mirra 2, so it can be adjusted to fit the owner more than the Mirra 2.
The price difference between these two chairs with fully upgraded options is about $110USD when I order it from my local retailer.
Also, the two chairs have different back support options:
-
The Mirra 2 has the option of "additional lumbar support", which slides up and down and you can adjust how firmly you want it to press on your back. I find it nice because it applies a good enough pressure and you can move it up and down to wherever you need support.
-
The Aeron Remastered has the "additional lumbar support" and the "Posture FIT" options, the latter is about $20 more expensive. I find that while the lumbar support option on this chair also moves up and down like the Mirra 2, but it does not apply a good enough pressure. The Posture FIT does have a good pressure when you turn the knob to its maximum, but it's fixed at one location and can't be moved. When I googled these two options on the Classic Aeron (can't find anything on the Remastered), people generally found that on the Classic Aeron the Posture FIT is fixed too low, and that the lumbar option is way better. But again, I can't find any user feedback on this remastered version of the chair.
Anyone has experience with either chair? Should I get the Aeron Remastered or the Mirra 2? If I get the Aeron Remastered, should I opt for the lumbar support option or the Posture FIT?
Thanks for your help!
