I have an old thermostat that I suspect is responsible for weird and sometimes scary issues I have. I want to swap it out with a new one. I am hoping that all I have to do is:Remove old one from wallUn-wire a few wires that disappear into wall (leading to the furnace)Same wires wire into obvious spots on the new thermostatMount new thermostat to walltouch-up paint because it's likely a smaller thermostatIs this accurate? Anything I should be aware of, going into this? I assume there's some sort of standard where any furnace can be controlled by any modern thermostat with a very primitive high/low voltage signal.Example issues I had: Once the furnace went on and off about 4 or 5 times within 2 minutes. The furnace once didn't go on all night so we woke up and the nursery was cold. And recently the furnace kicked in and went on despite the thermostat being ABOVE the goal temperature for the schedule. The touch screen doesn't work well and the "hot, cold, off" lever is flaky and will re-trigger between hot and off easily. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2mTwhuM
