I recently finished modifying my Harbor Freight 2 hp dust collector. The stock filter bag had become extremely clogged and the performance was suffering. This thing definitely isn’t pretty, but it works.HF Dust CollectorI don’t have any build photos since my plans changed about 10 times throughout the project. I used a Wynn Environmental filter with Oneida’s Super Dust Deputy. I had to make some custom connections since none of the components wanted to fit together. Here’s how I made everything fit:4” x 5” metal duct reducer on the SDD inlet5” x 6” metal duct reducer on the SDD outlet. The connection is made using 2 wooden flanges with different inner diameters but same O.D.HF 5” flexible hose at the blower inletCustom rectangular blower outlet ducting made from 3/4” plywood, plexiglass, and a lot of screws. The rectangular flanges at each end connect to the blower housing and filter mount. I made this because 1) I wanted a ridged, unsupported outlet elbow and 2) I cracked the stock plastic transition piece. I used my laser engraver to cut the shapes out of 1/4” plywood and used a flush trim router to transfer the shape to the 3/4” plywood. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2rilpeN
