Newell Brands owns a ton of household names like Rubbermaid, Sharpie, and Coleman. Management said they plan to reduce their customer base and manufacturing presence up to 50% by selling off some of their brands. Stock is down big. First thought is that this is an overreaction that might be good for the company, but I don’t trust that management group to execute it. One of the big things analysts were saying out of Q3 was that they needed to streamline and reduce their SKU count coming off the Jarden acquisition as well as pay down debt. This would accomplish that if the don’t canabalize the business completely in the process.
