Just had something interesting happen that I want to share and I'm not sure who else would appreciate it.
I was going through my emails today and saw one that said "JasonDJ, welcome to Amazon Prime".
At first I thought it was spam, but upon logging into my Amazon account, I saw that I was renewed today for $100. We had cancelled it in November.
That's weird. Only my wife and I have the account and neither of us bought anything, we hadn't even logged in today, and there's no other emails from Amazon. Sure enough, it already posted to one of my credit cards, one which wasn't even the default payment.
I called up Amazon thinking I'd been hacked, or they were trying to pull a fast one.
Turns out they had seen that it was renewed by my FireTV with the download of a movie. My wife later revealed that my 16-month-old son had turned on the TV and started playing a Prime movie, which renewed the membership.
Amazon was able to cancel and refund the full amount. I enabled parental controls shortly after.
I thought it was a funny story and perhaps some others can relate.
