I have only normal savings and checkings accounts in both countries, but live in Canada, and dont know where to start. Context: I opened a betterment account only to be told I can't legally have one since i dont live in the US for 11/12 months. I will obtain Canadian Permanent Residency by the end of this year, but until then cannot open tax free savings or retirement accounts.
Besides talking with a can-us tax laywer on this, how can i legally get started?
