Posting my personal experience with ilovekickboxing. I got a groupon for them a few months ago and tried them out. It’s was a free pair of gloves and 10 lessons for about $20. I just wanted to try out kickboxing. The workout itself is decent. After my first lesson, it was a high pressure sale to upgrade to a membership. The 12 month plan was $135/mo. I told them I would need to read over the contract and they got pissed at me. Red flag. I then told them I would need to talk to my spouse and sleep on it. When they got mad about that, another red flag. I left and went home to check reviews, there were a number of reviews of people not being able to cancel their membership after they were in an accident or moved etc.

I posted about my experience on/r/antimlm because it seemed very MLM like. Months later I got a response that I only read the contract because I was looking for an excuse to be lazy and not work out. It totally read like someone who worked there, so I posted on /r/hailcorporate. But seriously, any place that discourages people from reading over a contract before signing is not worth the time. It looks like this place is popping up like weeds all over the country. IMO, $135/mo for just kickboxing and not a full gym is absurd. The groupon seemed like a good deal, regret ever bothering with the place now. response about how reading over the contract is an excuse to not exercise
