I bought this table set for my city balcony last week, after much searching:Top ViewSide ViewIt's made of powder-coated steel, and the blue stuff is plastic wicker - similar to what a cheap Acapulco chair is made of. This was the only table which was the ideal size, had the combination of traits I wanted (glass table top, big enough for four if I add more chairs), and had the most comfortable seats. Buuut...I don't love the colour. The chairs came already assembled, but the table didn't. I was thinking that I might be able to spray paint it to make the white parts black, and the blue parts metallic gold - before assembling the table, and if I tape off the chair sections really well. However, I have only ever spray painted a few pieces of old wooden furniture, and I am not sure if steel and plastic will take the paint as well.I am googling this, of course, but I was wondering if anyone with experience could chime in. Do you think I would get decent results spray-painting this table and chairs? Is there anything special I'd have to do to make the paint adhere to the steel, or to the plastic especially? Do you think I would have issues with the paint rubbing off on whoever sits at the table? Would the fact that this table will be sitting permanently outside (not in direct sunlight, but exposed to pollution and the elements) affect how well the paint wears? Would a method other than spray painting be better? Thanks so much for any help you can give, I really really appreciate it. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2DJhMEA
