I am about to make my first investment (besides retirement accounts, I'm 23) by putting $10,000 into VTSAX. I've read a great deal about not trying to time the market, so even though the market is up right now, I want to invest the money. However, I want to hear what other, more experienced investors have to say about investing in January. Is there typically a correction in February or March to balance out the high gains made in January? Or is there no typical trend and it is better to put money in the market right away?
