How do I purchase my contact lenses on my own? Last year I spent $500 on contacts that the eye doctor ordered for me. I feel like I can save money on ordering them myself?

How and where do you order your own contacts? Is there real cost savings ordering them yourself? Do I still need to do an eye appointment in order to order them myself?
