Hello! I recently thought about buying a roof de-icing/snow melting heated cables and placing it in a S track (with a 2-3 inch gap). It can be rolled as a mat and when anticipating a snow storm, I'd just unroll the mats on the driveway and let it melt the snow. I saw a lot of videos in which they are installing the system Underneath a new pavement so I was just wondering if this might be a less costly alternative. It won't be there permanently as I will remove it once all the snow is melted (so that my car won't run over the wires.I'm not sure entirely but how hot do these cables usually run? I think I've read somewhere that it's ~50°C but can't seem to find that information again. would a solution like this potentially work? We get from time to time ~15 cm of snow and on rare occasions it can go to 30cm and above so I just thought I'd ask if this was done/tried previously. Thanks for the help! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2mXxam2
