I have these really beat up end tables that my aunt gave me, and are probably 25 years old when she moved (I can't say no to free furniture). I have had them for a while now, and want to fix them up some to match the black furniture I have now. They are a high gloss finished dark stained wood, with a glass top.I'm going to lightly sand the finish off before painting, but the table also have a metal bar that outlines the glass top that is covered with the cheap gold colored plastic stuff. Because it is older, the plastic is starting to warp and chip. Does anyone have any idea the best way to paint over it besides slowly chipping it off? The only things I can think of is to either just try sanding it down when I sand down the table, try to pry the metal bar up (but it seems to be super glued down, and I'm not sure if I will be able to get it out without damaging the table), or plaster over the inlay to make a smooth surface and paint that.Any advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated!! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2muTHpv
