I'm not addicted to my phone, but I hate the feeling of going somewhere and needing to make sure my phone is in my pocket (because that's just what we do these days). So often we'll be heading out the door and I say "Wait! I need my phone." And 9 times out of 10 I don't.
I've been thinking about when I was a kid in elementary and middle school and didn't have a phone. I'd go to friends houses, the park, school, sports practices, etc, all without having a phone. So I've decided to get back to that. I don't bring my phone to places where I likely won't need it. Grocery shopping, the gym, church, taking the dog to the park, going out to eat, etc. The only places I still bring it are work, road trips, hikes (for emergencies or pictures), or places where I need GPS directions. And even then, I don't have it in my pants pocket. I keep it in a coat pocket or in the center console of the car. Other than that, it stays home.
I feel more relaxed without it, like I'm not bringing the world with me when I go places. Just me and my direct surroundings.
