I asked a question here 2 days ago and received many appreciated responses.
My question was, why is SP500 superior compared to selecting high dividend stocks (essentially thinking that DRIPPING high dividend yielders would make give better returns).
The answer/general consensus was, over the long term (I believe somebody threw out 10 years) the SP500 is essentially unbeatable.
So my revised question, why would somebody young invest in anything other than SP500? Doesn’t it make the most sense to just dump $5500 into your Roth IRA every year and nothing else?
Also, in a taxed account (investing more than $5500 a year), wouldn’t it also make sense to just keep buying SP500?
Thank you for helping me in my investing career!
