First time posting here, and I hope this is an appropriate sub for this question.
My fiancé and I are about to convert my parents semi-finished basement into a small apartment for us and our two children.
We are on a very limited budget, but thankfully my dad knows how to do all of the labor, and won’t charge us to do so, so all we need to pay for is the materials.
On that note, to stick to a tight budget, what are some tips and tricks to finish the job well without breaking the bank? Are there any materials that you would recommend getting the very best quality and not try to save a penny on it?
Some of the area is already drywalled, some is not. There is already a fully functional bathroom in there, so the bathroom plumbing is okay, but we are putting in a small kitchenette and will need plumbing in that area. Other than that it’s just the floors and electrical.
Anyways, like I said, I hope this is an okay sub to post this in, any tips are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
