I used to buy generic/Walgreens brand dental floss for $1.79 for 100 yards. They abruptly raised the price about a year back to $2.79 for 100 yards, and brought in a new 50-yard pack for $1.79. I guess they figured we wouldn't notice.

Anyway, like me I guess a lot of people went down the road to Target where you could get 100 yards of Reach for $2.00. Because today, 100 yards of dental floss at Walgreens is now $1.79 again: NEW LOWER PRICE, the sign shouts.

This is the part of modern retailing I really hate. It's all an endless series of gambits to see what you'll fall for. I buy local as much as it makes sense; they do less of this. I also check brands that keep the price the same but reduce the net weight of the package.

Honestly, as much as I like saving money it's almost worth it alone to simply not enable the misleading practices of modern business.
