I had no clue about investing but I was unemployed and had a lot of money sitting around so I threw it in a vanguard brokerage account. In a couple years my original 30k has increased by tens of thousands of dollars.
In the same amount of time my 401k has averaged 1% and has earned basically nothing. All of the options seem to not yield impressive results. Sentry, Morningstar are the companies.
I haven’t found a 401k fund that yields near my taxable VTSAX.
