Hi! I am studying design and product management at the university of applied sciences in Salzburg, Austria. Currently I am working on my master thesis which is he development of a power supply system relying on green sources for the use away from the public network. I would like to ask you to take part in my survey: http://ift.tt/2AYIjLQ As a designer I am not focussing on the technical aspects yet, that will be done in a further step. The point of my current research is to learn about the needs of potential users and the jobs they want to accomplish. Knowing about the needs leads me to a possible way to create a product that adds real value to the users’ life. The initial idea, which led to this project was a visit to an Austrian alpine farm pasture, up in the mountains without running water or electricity. Having a fridge to cool medication (for humans and animals) would make things easier for example. Also using eco-power sources like wind, water or solar power applies to the lifestyle and the philosophy of people choosing a life in the alps, or anywhere, away from public supply networks. I strongly believe, that there are many situations in which having a sustainable energy source improves things. If it is for van dwellers, farmers or a holiday house: electric power is needed in many ways.
