I recently bought a new house and I am looking to replace my shower trim kit and have been doing some research (googling, youtube, etc.) and I feel I have a good understanding of most of the replacement process. The part I'm stuck on is the replacement of the shower handle. From my understanding different brands (Moen, Kohler, American Standard, etc.) will require different stem valves (?), and it is best to get the same brand trim kit to best match the stem valves. Currently, I am unable to find the brand name of the current trim kit in my shower and do not have any documentation detailing the brand. I am not looking to do any major tear up work. So, my question is what is the best method for determining the brand of trim kit? Would it be best just to take the handle and cover plate off and look at the valve to determine brand? Are there brands that are compatible with other brands? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2BESmCS
