Hi everyone! I just moved into my first house, and I have a little problem. I have this open area here and I can't decide what to do about it.Super Shitty AlbumIgnore the mess. I have been painting and adding new floor for a few days. It is very veeeeeery cold. The first thing you should notice is that there is a strut protruding from the ground. I do not believe It to be weight baring (not sure if horizontal struts CAN be weight baring). It comes up about and inch from the ground level, and has wires for plugins and such going through it. With my set of tools (a drill and a hammer) I BELIEVE it is safe to say that it isn't going anywhere, and I am not quite sure what to do about it.In a perfect world I would take the strut out, add some wood planks, sand the floors and stain/add polyurethane finish and hope for the best, however this isn't a perfect world. If YOU had this issue, what would you do to mend it? I'm not sure if I want a counter top here as I already have lots of counter space, and a bar would be mostly useless to me as I live alone and have no friends. So what do you think? Any ideas? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2DCnu6o
