I've managed to save up a decent amount of money over the years and for the past few years left it in a WF savings account basically not doing anything. I recently moved all my savings into a 1.3% online bank, but obviously it's still no where near it's potential. I was always little worried about what to invest in since I had no idea, but I spent a little time and think I found a few good options to start investing my money in.

  • VIGAX - 0.06% fees and 10k min. (Invest 20-30k)
  • VFIAX - 0.04% fees and 10k min. (Invest 20-25k)
  • VIG - 0.08% fees. (Invest 15-20k)
  • VGSLX - 0.12% fees and 10k min. (Invest 5-15k)

I'm assuming most of these are leaning to stocks and not bonds. They are all risk 4/5 according to Vanguard, but I think since I'm young I can afford to ride the market. I won't be touching this money for at least another 5 years I assume, hopefully more. I'm planning on using these investments as retirement savings over the next 30-40 years, so I think these could turn into quite a nice number by then. Do you guys think I should switch up some of these options to something else? My IRA is currently on a target date fund, but I might switch that to VIG as well. I know target dates are pretty conservative, so should I keep the IRA and invest some of the 50-100k into an earlier target date fund (2025-2035) for a safety net incase I need some money for a house/car/etc in near future, while still getting some returns? Any info is greatly appreciated. I know with 30-40 years ahead of me, I can almost invest in anything and still have plenty of time later to reinvest. I just don't want to wait much longer knowing the past 3-4 years were wasted and I lost money due to inflation.
