A few years ago, one of those preppy stores (American Eagle, I think) was offering a deal: walk in, and you get 10 free dollars to spend in the store. That’s all there was to it. So, my two friends and I found the cheapest item we could find—a pair of boxers that were going for 8 dollars. We were in Portland, so no sales tax. We took those boxers to the cashier, she scanned the boxers, and I mentioned that we would take the rest of our ten dollars in cash. Surprisingly, she agreed, and we walked out of the store with a fresh pair of boxers and two dollars cash.
Tldr: I was paid two dollars for a new pair of American Eagle boxers.
