Long story short, our credit isn't great. Our scores aren't the worst ever, but we do have a bankruptcy discharge that is just over two years old.
My FICO score is sitting at 623. Transunion and Equifax are much higher.
Due to a string of crap luck (my life story), I'm in need of a personal loan short term.
Back in November, I lost my job (I am employed again, but still awaiting my first pay. My husband has also been without work for equally as long because he is an independent contractor and there has been no work between the holidays. We are quickly running out of cash, and have used up other sources of money already (I emptied my meager savings, mother already gave us what she could, unemployment doesn't cover much, I've almost maxed out my credit card, and my sister already prepaid my husband for a job yet to be completed but that money is almost gone now).
I have to pay rent by January first, and my car payment is officially late now. Kids' daycare is around $400/mo, and I have to pay weekly to keep them in there so I can work!
We do expect at least a few thousand back in taxes, but a RAL would not be available in time to save our butts.
I have applied for pre qualification to several P2P lenders and been turned down because of the bankruptcy (prosper, upstart, avant, etc).
The bankruptcy was because my husband racked up huge medical bills four years ago due to a brain tumor which left him disabled. He is actually currently attending his ALJ hearing for SSDI as I type this, because holding down steady work for him has been nearly impossible... Which is why he has been an IC painting homes for the past 5 months and is currently without work. Not that it matters, but the bankruptcy wasn't just because we suck at budgeting. It was unavoidable.
Anyway,
TL;DR: We need a quick personal loan because crap happens and bills, but we are discharged bankrupts because of huge amounts of medical debt. If I don't secure enough money in the next few days, we will lose our rental home, and my car will be repo'd, and we'll be back to where we were four years ago. We've fought so hard to be independent again, and this sucks. I can repay the loan when our tax refund comes, but I cannot find a lender who will lend to me. I need help. Failure is not an option.
