Hello folks,
I am recently finished my M.Sc. and working as an aquatic ecologist for a consulting firm in Canada. This is my first position, and I have been here approximately 3 months. My salary is $50,000 with benefits.
Another company has reached out, and (after meeting and chatting) is offering me a similar job (this is my field of study, more or less). However, they are asking that I provide a range in hourly rate I would be comfortable with, as they pay for each hour worked.
Let's just assume I will be getting similar benefits. What are the pros/cons of salary vs hourly pay? How does it look to future employers to have only worked at a job for 3 months?
