I was calculating my budget for the month on Fudget for December alone and holy crap: I saved over $300+ in regards spending it on food and gas.

I started working 5 minutes from my house. I used to work about an hour from my house before this and spent well over $120+ on gas alone not to mention how many fast food options there were near my place of work. I almost always bought fast food, never brought my lunch. Phew, that adds up quick!

Now I’m bringing my lunch to work every day and fill my car up once a month if that. I leave my debit/credit cards at home because I’m an impulsive spender and the vending machines at work have card readers on them (bad idea!). Never really go out or spend money at the moment.

I don’t know where I’m going with this, but it feels great to take ahold of your finances and be conscious about it for once. Now I can start contributing to my savings more :)

track your spending! You will be surprised.

tl;dr: spent a lot of money on food and gas. Work closer to home now and saved $300+ this December.
