Hi r/investing,

I've been lurking this sub for some time now. I was always interested in investing but I didn't have the time to learn and practice as I was completely focused on doing well at school. Recently, I graduated from university with honors and will be starting work in the spring - the pocket of time between now and when I start work is time I see as opportunity to intensively learn about investing.

I was wondering if anyone could mentor me, passively or actively, for the next few weeks.

I'm currently halfway through MIT's 15.401 (Finance Theory I) after one day of studies, and plan on self-studying other courses including 15.402 (Finance Theory II) and 15.433 (Investments) to get a general background of financial markets that I need. I've been watching stock pitches, studying pitch decks, and learning about different statistical ratios as well. Ultimately, I want to develop my own framework for understanding the economic environment and financially evaluating companies.

I want to hear about the lessons you've learned after participating in the market, particularly in choosing stocks to invest in. In addition, I'd love to pitch various companies and hear feedback - I would greatly appreciate such an opportunity. I don't know much right now and I have much to learn, but this is also what excites me so much.

A little about myself: HYP grad, decent Excel background, have done previous coursework in basic economics, intermediate statistics, systems thinking, multivariable calculus, and linear algebra. Closely follow world events and news (favorite one right now is MBS/Saudi Arabia). Going to do consulting for the next 2-4 years while studying for CFA, MBA after that, then hopefully private equity or asset management afterwards. I want to see my parents rest after spending their lives working endless hours to make ends meet. That's the other big motivating factor for me in addition to my genuine interest in business and in the stock market.

Please feel free to leave a comment or PM me. Thank you for reading.
