So, I purchased a pull up bar meant to be joist mounted. I thought it was for 2 inch thick joists but the bolts are too long and the nuts won't screw all the way to the joist. So looks like it really need to be a couple inches thicker. Two options that I can think of with my completely non existent DIY and engineering knowledge:I could get a different nut that screws all the way down on the current joist. However, I'm worried that will break the joist over time since its not intended for that.I could attach a 2 by 4 down the length of the joist and then hang to that. I don't know if that just adds additional weight to the joist and doesn't help strength.Thoughts? I need it in my basement but I also don't want to screw anything up structurally. Link to some joist pics below. There's about 4 inches space between the joist and duct behind it so no concerns there.http://ift.tt/2zHSNdC via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2C3Fmel
