I'm a Pakistani citizen, but I've lived outside the country my whole life on account of my dad's job as a diplomat. I am currently residing in Turkey, and was in Hungary before that.
My family's been involved in some legal disputes against the government (of Pakistan) for the past decade or so, but the issues are about to resolve and our assets are going to be liquid again.
I am looking for a safe, lucrative way to invest/store them OUTSIDE of Pakistan. I do not trust the institutions there and feel uncomfortable letting them have dominion over my property again.
The sum I am receiving from this settlement is quite large, well in excess of 1,000,000 USD, and I want to put it somewhere and in some fashion that will a) eventually grant me citizenship, b) allow me access to the entire sum when/if necessary without penalty, and c) keep my deposit competitive against inflation rates. There are aspects of this industry completely alien to me, and I would appreciate any ideas anybody has for my situation.
