I'm in my early 20s. My parents added me as an authorized user to their credit card years ago, so I have a pretty high credit score with only 1 card to my name. I want to build up my credit history so I applied for a VISA, but am being denied because of "not enough credit history". And Credit Karma said I'm "unlikely to get approved" for other cards.
It seems like I'm in a catch-22 - how do I build up my credit history from here?
Edit: Just wanted to add that the card I got denied for was the Chase Freedom Unlimited Visa. I was also looking into the Citi Double Cash MasterCard but it had bad reviews. This is all COMPLETELY new to me so any advice appreciated.
Edit 2: One more question I forgot to ask. My income is very low right now, like 22K. Living at parent's home, so no big expenses. I know they ask for income on the applications - will this prevent me from getting approved as well?
