Origin of the post: been browsing for some tools, most urgently a large air compressor, something between $100-200 that would sell new for $200-400. Occasionally I see posts with these air compressors and ‘brand new’ or ‘never used.’ My default in that case is to think I’m probably being ripped off: there’s very few plausible stories in which you have this item you don’t want and you’re only recourse is selling it privately: the return policies are typically quite generous. So I usually ask them right off the bat but usually I don’t know whether or not to believe them.
I just wanted to solicit any opinions/experiences with this, hope to hear some stories.
