I live in Ohio, Grandma lives 2 miles away in Kentucky. Grandma lives on a busy street and her car was smashed into by a driver texting. Her car was declared totaled. Instead of using the insurance money to buy a new car, Grandma used the money to pay off the bills she was behind on. So Grandma needs a car and I am able to financially provide one for her.
I'd like the car to remain in my name as I'm worried that if Grandma passes my Mother will take said car for herself.
What is the best way to insure this? Do I add her to my policy or let her insure it herself. She's not great at paying bills so I'm worried she won't actually pay her car insurance and any accident she may cause will be my responsibility to cover. The car is cheap so I am not worried about losing the car itself in an accident.
Any advice to get Grandma driving again is appreciated.
