Not sure what to flair this as. Picked 'Other' just in case.
Background: I am a 25 year old male uni student (final year, philosophy) in the UK who has been financially dependent on my single mother for my entire life. She pays bills, buys food, vet costs, and all other things good parents do. I have no income myself besides the money from student loans.
The Now: My mother has suddenly fallen very ill to a chest infection and its possible she may not come out the other side. I need to get my finances on track so I can support myself if she does pass away. But I have very little knowledge of personal finance and am a loss for what to do financially in such a case.
TL;DR 25 year old male student in the UK in final year of undergrad studies (philosophy) preparing for possible death of the mother he has relied on financially for his entire life. Any advice?
