Moved to a pretty small 1 bedroom apartment with my partner this summer in Halifax and I am wondering if keeping the heat off as long as we can manage (while using blankets/sweaters) is a stupid goal. Our power bill was roughly 1.75 a day in power up to this point (no heat used yet) so I would like to keep that from jumping up too much. The only complication is that we have a pet hedgehog who is in a poorly insulated habitat that needs the ambient heat in the habitat to stay above 18 C. We have a heated floor in the habitat as well as a heat lamp so as soon as that becomes an issue I will obviously turn the heat on. I am basically just posting this as a sanity check to see if anyone else tries to putt off adjusting the thermostat as much as possible.
