'Free', of course :-)
A key to successful financial planning is to buy the things you need at the lowest cost possible. And, of course, it does not get better than 'FREE'. It turns out that there are lots of things available for 'FREE' that we are often not even aware of. I want to correct this.
Did you know that in the State of California
- you can receive mortgage payment assistance if you suddenly got laid off?
- you can get down-payment assistance towards purchase of your first home at preferred/low interest?
- etc.
I learned for the first-time this at a presentation conducted by the folks at CalFHA and Keep Your Home California. Of course, there are income/home qualification requirements. But being aware of these programs first is KEY. Private sector lenders do not have an incentive to tell you about this - because if you don't ask and willingly pay higher interest, higher closing costs - so much the better for the lender.
I have pulled together a list of resources for all states. We will be making this available for users of my app. But I thought this would be generally valuable to all in this community. If you would like to help augment this list with additional FREE/helpful resources, please PM me.
Thanks!
