I just found this sub yesterday and absolutely love the idea of it. Has really boosted my confidence.
Graduated with a B.S. in Construction Management in August (and have an A.S. in Electrical-Electronics Engineering Technology), got a full time 8-5 job, which was really more like 6:45 am to 6:00 pm with commute, and absolutely HATED it. I have crippling insomnia so by the end of a work week I was completely broken both mentally and physically.
My plan is to try to find some part-time work under 30 hours a week related to my degrees (they are out there, but there are few) then freelance the remainder of my time doing things I enjoy and improving my hobbies. I plan to give guitar lessons, tutor if I can, improve my graphic design abilities for hire, and attempt to pursue my dream jobs of being a film/tv score producer and screenwriting.
Also - has anyone done the court reporting thing? I was reading up on it and it sounds feasible with decent pay. I live near a big city so I imagine there will be plenty of work for it.
Thanks!
