I'm 40, wife of two years is 35, we don't have kids (would like to start soon), don't own a home (rent in NYC at the moment, don't want to buy here). My income is about 100k, but starting in January will be 125k-150k with possibility to reach 200k. Her's is 125k. The only investing we do is our 401K...10% with 4% match each. Well, I have about 20k in individual stocks.
I know little to nothing about this stuff. What would be a smart next step for a married couple with our income?
